Battle of the Books is a reading program for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Students will read books and form teams of 3-4 to demonstrate their knowledge of the books they have read.
Each team will be provided the same books that they will be quizzed on at the Battle. During the Battle of the Books competition, participants will answer all questions with the title of the book. The competition will be a combination of relay and teamwork stations. Students will have approximately 8 weeks to read their books. Each student must read a minimum of 2 books and pass short reading comprehension quizzes on the books to participate. It is up to the individual teams to determine their book reading strategy. Students must be recommended by their classroom teacher to participate in the Battle of the Books. To be recommended by a teacher, students must maintain solid grades in all subjects and complete all homework and assignments.
3rd through 5th grade classes will participate in Class Battle of the Books in January. After our class battles, students will be able to sign up in teams for the school Battle of the Books.
